Olinka is a mom to 4 amazing kids who get to grow up in the coolest house in Riverside: the Treasure Island house that their dad Dan designed and decorated. Sadly, Dan passed away a few months ago, but Olinka and the kids find comfort in living in the home into which their dad put so much of his pride and passion. And he spared no expense in building this ultimate treasure island fantasy! It is blinged out with as much pirate and treasure bling as any house could fit! From the crow’s nest out by the pool to bottle alley, and even pirate sayings engraved in the stove, the house is filled with both big and small bling everywhere you look! Olinka jokes that she’s not sure how she wasn’t scared away by her husband’s unique tastes, but now she finds that the house is so special, and she sees that it has inspired her kids to really reach for the stars!
As a single mom to four kids, Olinka admits that she doesn’t always get to appreciate the amazing house, but when they pause activities to spend time together, they love how unique their home is. Their favorite room? The game room where the family comes together to play games and entertain friends. For this family, the struggle isn’t getting people to come over, it’s getting them to leave! Olinka says they are always finding party guests lingering to play just a little longer!
The game room is decked out to the nines, with slot machines, a gaming table, and a poker table, there’s also a built-in bar with hand-crafted details, and even a life-size pirate descending from the ceiling.
In the Captain’s Quarter’s bedroom, we see lots of exposed wood beams, plus an ornately carved metal door and stained-glass windows to look out and admire from within. The room also has a pirate-y desk, and a black-and-gold gilded four-poster bed complete with crushed red velvet curtains.
Bottle Alley has rows and rows of antique liquor bottles that Dan collected from around the world.
The media room is designed to look like an antique theatre, with enough seating for 11 and crushed red velvet curtains surrounding the screen.
The kids can often be found playing out in the pool, sliding down the waterslide or up in the crow’s nest enjoying some quiet time. But there is no doubt: this lagoon is perfect for little pirates!
Even the kitchen of this expansive house is pirate themed: hand carved mermaids flank the stove, with a message in the middle: “fair winds and far places”
