Travis Strote
Travis Strote - Former Military Medic/Soldier, Wildlife Expert - Outdoorsman - Scientist
Travis Strote is a Florida-born wildman, combat medic, animal behavior expert, and lifelong student of survival, both human and wild. Bitten by a shark at 17 and undeterred, Travis has spent his life studying apex predators, tracking elusive jungle species, and testing the limits of the human body and mind. From catching snakes as a kid and writing book reports to earn the right to keep exotic pets, to building sustainable fashion empires and freediving with bull sharks, Travis doesn’t just explore the edge… he lives there.
A retired Recon Corpsman and Medical Laboratory Scientist, Travis served seven years in the U.S. Navy, splitting his time between battlefield medicine and working with Navy dolphins and sea lions trained to detect underwater mines. He holds a degree from George Washington University, certification as a PADI Master Scuba Diver, and extensive training in trauma medicine, biomechanics, and physiology, all of which give him a tactical edge when analyzing “what if,” warrior matchups. Whether he's evaluating a Samurai versus a Green Beret, or 100 men against a Silverback gorilla, Travis understands how mental strength, terrain, training, and tactical mindset define the outcome.
After the military, Travis built a zero-waste fashion brand (Yoga Democracy) that recycled ocean plastics into eco-conscious activewear. He moved to Kenya, lived among the Maasai and Nakuru tribes, and built a factory employing over 500 people, blending entrepreneurship with global conservation and indigenous wisdom.
Today, he splits his time between Scottsdale, AZ and Costa Rica, where he treks through Corcovado National Park studying jaguars, tapirs, and big cats. Whether freediving 70 feet to spear a yellowfin tuna, climbing volcanoes, or tracking predators through jungle terrain, Travis thrives in real-life survival scenarios most people only imagine.
