The Neon House

Homeowner: Shane P.

Occupation: DESIGNER & HOMEOWNER

Home Location: Studio City

Shane is a real estate investor and designer who takes great pride in creating spaces that have unique and memorable touches, many of which are custom designed and hand-crafted. One of Shane’s signature design elements is floor to ceiling art, which he often designs by combining photos, textures, and different paint colors to get a truly unique look that leaves visitors stunned! Continuing with the custom art theme of his houses, Shane also always creates customized neon signs with messages that match the motif of a house and add to the “bling factor.”

Not only is the artwork custom designed in Shane’s homes, but so is much of the furniture, and even larger elements of the house including the stairs, the bathroom tiles, and the flooring. Shane takes great pride in not only selecting creative design elements, but actually adding pieces that he custom builds. For example, the huge furniture on the rooftop is hand crafted and special ordered, and he hand-designed the unique driveway that utilizes a mixture of grass and hexagonal tiles that were carefully selected to create an entrance unlike any other in the Hollywood Hills!

  • Each room contains different pieces of hand-crafted artwork that Shane creates by layering photos with wooden textures, pieces of gold leaf, and other cool paints that make the artwork pop!

  • The neon sign on the 1800 sq foot rooftop reads: “Make Magic. Collect Beautiful Moments” which is the theme of the house; Shane hopes every visitor leaves feeling inspired to create incredible artwork in their life.

  • In a bold move, Shane decided to paint the exterior of the house black, which is the opposite of many trends. He says that he wanted to go against the grain and paint the house a color that prepares visitors for the epic artwork and colors that pop as soon as they enter the house.

  • Each bedroom in the house has its own theme color scheme, with elements carefully selected down to the custom tiles and artwork.

  • The neon sign leading to the outdoor area reads “to infinity &…” and an arrow, in a nod to one of Shane’s favorite movies as a kid: Toy Story. He says that every time he sits outside on the rooftop at night, he loves to stare at the stars and think of that line while finding the inspiration for his next creative venture!
