Sydney was very close to her grandmother, and learned to cook by mimicking her. She liked her style because it was simple, yet delicious.
Her grandmother was a hidden child of the Holocaust, and a lot of her recipes came from relatives who didn’t survive.
Today, Sydney describes her style of cooking as simple and traditional, but with contemporary and healthy swaps.
She loves Hanukkah, because that’s the only time she gets to make latkes, gefilte fish, and rugelach.
Her best Hanukkah memories are spending time with her family and making jokes about gefilte fish, which she describes as an acquired taste.
