Most everyone assumes that Julia and Sofia are identical twin sisters. They look the same. The speak the same. They wear the same clothes. They’re constantly together. They’re insanely close and inseperable like twins. And that’s exactly what they’re going for. The truth? They’re best friends and NOT blood related! What started as being attached at the hip, best-friend-style, gradually turned into an obsession with making sure they looked like twins and not just “feeling” like twins! So these two, young Swedish women have made their beauty journey about looking like one another!

When Julia and Sofia first became enamored with one another, they were in middle school in Sweden. Both the odd girls out, they found a soulmate in each other, and began to spend every second together. From those early days, Julia and Sofia were obsessed with the beautiful people they saw around them, and began their own rituals to become beautiful themselves. This started by going to the gym together daily in Sweden, which led them to move together to Los Angeles at 17. Today they have undergone countless matching procedures to look more and more like one another. This means that today, these once best-friends have become “twins” to everyone around them.

Julia and Sofia have undergone lash and hair extension services, botox, fillers, and hope to soon get veneers done together for a matching smile. The difference here, they MUST get the same thing done to maintain the same look. If one of them goes blonde, the other has to go blonde. If one of them gets botox the other has to get botox. Not only does these best-friends have an insanely close-knit and inseparable relationship which forces them to do everything together, looking alike is a big part of that relationship. It would perhaps be more understandable if they were sisters who wanted to look the same, but Julia and Sofia are not blood related. They only feel blood related and they want their outside appearance to match their identical twin persona.

Though their families in Sweden don’t approve of this unrealistic and nontraditional standard of beauty, both their dads have helped financially as well as men in their lives to support this expensive addiction. When Julia became pregnant with her son, it meant that she had to back out of the breast implant surgery that she and Sofia had scheduled that year. Sofia went through with the surgery and it remains one of the only procedures that one of the “twins” has done without the other. The pregnancy and birth also meant other big changes for Julia and Sofia, as they were no longer roommates when Julia and her son moved in with her husband. In Julia’s perfect world, Sofia would have a child now too, and the kids could be twins just like their moms. Sofia isn’t ready though, and now has no choice but to learn to accept being a lower priority for Julia than she’s ever been before.
