O Brother Where Art Thou?
From the day this uncannily close brother/brother duo was born they’ve been tethered together. They even began life holding hands while swaddled in baby blankets at the hospital. Today, Skyler and Spencer are lovable, All-American Eagle Scouts, boys-next-door that can’t help but put a smile on your face! They’re twins who’ve shared a nearly parallel life to this day. They dress alike every day. They share everything. They speak in synchronicity. Their fingerprints are so alike that the FBI took thumbprints to see if there was perceptible difference. Truly, there is no brother duo in the world quite like Skyler and Spencer.
It’s easier to ask what they don’t do together than what they do do together. They both work at the same company and in the same field of home mortgages. They are both die-hard sports fans. They went to school together and lived together the whole time. They pledged the same fraternity together. They even share the same friends!
Whether they want to admit it or not, S & S are a classic-case of “mama’s boys!” They still live at home. Mom still cooks, cleans and makes sure the boys’ rooms are tidy! Sally is the quintessential doting mid-western mom who beams at the mere mention of her round-faced babies. Although she desperately wants to take credit for the charm and deep-seeded kindness, she contends, “they’ve always been perfect.” Mama Sally had a picture-perfect life until one day her husband came downstairs and announced, matter-of-fact, “I’m leaving you for Debbie.” Mom did a double-take: “You mean our neighbor Debbie who baby-sit’s our boys?!” Yes, her. On the boys’ eleventh birthday Dad followed through and left Sally, Skyler and Spencer never to be seen again. It shattered their world, but mom didn’t skip a beat and was there to pick up the pieces. She worked extremely hard to afford the boys every opportunity in life, whether in sports or school. Acting as both mom and dad, Sally did her best to raise her boys to the best of her ability. She only cried in secret, never letting the boys know or see her hardship. Today, the three S’s are closer than ever. They haven’t heard from dad to this day, but they’ve been able to find love, home and family within one another. They don’t take it for granted.
Life to this point has been idyllic, but now that the boys are getting up there in age, it’s time for them to move out of mama’s home and to get lives of their own. They can’t imagine living apart from one another but they can’t really find girlfriends and wives when they’re still living at home with mom! Dating is its own can of worms. Even though women will all say that they’re “totally cool!” with Spencer or Skyler being so close, but when they see the reality of how close is CLOSE, the relationships all seem to fizzle out! What woman wants to share her boyfriend with his brother? It’s too much. Spencer and Skyler find that dating, “singletons” as they refer to non-twin people, they don’t understand the brother’s one-in-a-million connection. For this reason, Skyler and Spencer are interested in dating twins. And no the girls don’t have to be identical! They think that female twins will inherently understand their unique bond and there won’t be issues of jealously to contend with. Seems too good to be true? Not everyone, including their best friend believes that this is a practical solution. What are the chances of finding and falling in love with a set of twin sisters? A lot of stars would have to align to make those romantic connections a success.
The brothers want nothing more than to be fathers and have their version of the American dream. Loving wives, happy children and white picket fences, of course right next door to one another. But will they be able to realistically achieve this vision of their future together? It’s a tall order to do this on your own, but even harder to do in exact stride with your brother. Either way, Spencer and Skyler are going to do everything they can to make their dream a reality.
