LEAGUE CITY, TX (HOUSTON METRO)

Charlie and Amber Ruhl are the owners of “Borderline Crazy Motorsports” and have passed = their passion of all things motors to their oldest daughter Haylie and twin sons Wyatt and Levi. The eldest of the three, Haylie got her start in drag racing but transitioned to monster trucks at thirteen through the youth monster truck team “Kid KJ.” Haylie and her entire family traveled the country over the next few years representing Kid KJ at events and promotions. By the time the twins turned seven, Amber and Charlie had them in their own mini monster trucks also under the “Kid KJ” flag. Being part of the Kid KJ team has been a major resource for information, access to vehicles and opportunity for the family.

Haylie, now grown, is graduating college next spring with a degree in mechanical engineering. She would love to focus on building and repairing monster trucks. When she’s at home, she likes to lend her expertise to her kid brothers, helping them learn how to take on the big trucks. The twins are both currently driving mini monster trucks and appear at events across Texas.

Charlie is the source of the families’ “borderline crazy” tendencies. He’s the one wrenching the vehicles, getting his son’s into the trucks and yelling at them over the walkies to go faster. He’s a tough coach and who just wants them to succeed in the sport. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Charlie’s father is an old-school, conservative grandpa who also comes from a borderline crazy racing background. When grandpa is around, the twins know that it’s time to be on their best behavior. Grandpa doesn’t suffer any fools.

Both Charlie and Amber are extremely competitive and have installed that spirit in their kids. They all want to be number one, execute the coolest tricks and put on the best show for their fans. The brothers share a healthy rivalry always try to one up each other, on the track as well as off. They are eager to see which twin will get into a full-size monster trucks first… Either way dad knows that having twin brothers both in monster trucks is a very marketable concept. One that promoters won’t shy away from.

In the next year, the Ruhls are looking to expand the Texas Division of Kid KJ and attend more events across the country than last year. With Haylie returning from college in the Spring the Ruhl’s will be reunited and stronger than ever to take on their competition.
