ERIN & CHICO
AUSTIN, TX

Erin is an artist, musician and server at one of Austin’s hottest restaurants: Emmer and Rye which made Bon Appetit’s 50 Best Restaurants in America. Her boyfriend Chico is a music producer, recording studio owner and proud owner of a 1900 Cottage Victorian home in the hip east side neighborhood of downtown Austin. The house features two-guest rooms. One of the rooms is currently a full time AirBnB and the other, is rented by their friend who will be moving out in the near future. They want to turn that bedroom into a guest room in order to rent out. Additionally, Erin and Chico want to rent out their entire home out, for the first time, during Austin’s iconic SXSW music festival next spring. But to get their entire house rental ready will require a lot of work and home improvements. While there still are numerous small renovations and repairs to complete; such as painting the interior and exterior, installing crown moldings throughout the house, and replacing the front door, the home’s biggest flaw is lack of an inviting outdoor space and recreational accoutrement. In their words the home needs to be “zipped up” before it’s ready for guests.

Austin is known for its relaxed, outdoorsy lifestyle, and being able to provide bikes for their guests to ride to nearby food trucks and supplies for water activities to use in the numerous nearby lakes and natural pools would be a huge plus. The couple also feels that by creating a beautiful backyard living space they will be able to increase their rental listing hits exponentially. To do so they need to source patio furniture, decorate the outside, and do some minor landscaping. With their guests being able to lounge on the patio with a craft beer and a guitar, Erin and Chico know that they can more than double their rental rates and finally be able to take a trip to South East Asia.
