Fashion Photographer’s Palatial Paradise
Homeowner: James White
Occupation: Celebrity Photographer
Home Location: Hollywood, CA
James has envisioned every detail of his paradise palace, from a living art stair-case with a “snake” mural, to a venetian themed swimming pool, to a “wow-worthy” media room, James’ home is like a living, breathing museum! Warhol had his factory, now James has his own place! Raised in a poor, lower-to-middle class home in rural Mississippi James never dreamed that he’d one day be photographing A-listers such as Lil Nas X, Sean Penn or Meg Ryan. He was a preternatural artist at a young age and eventually awarded a scholarship to art school. After graduation, with only $200 to his name, he decided to move to Italy. He landed a job teaching photography and from there established himself as a prodigal talent. James has since been able to live his dream working with innumerable talented artists, creators, art directors, actors, sculptors throughout the world. Through his rolodex of creatives, James was also able to curate an incredible art collection that seamlessly blends into his home. His Hollywood home exists as a both a dwelling and place of artistic expression. He gutted the previous property and built his own, beautiful, modern home that exhibits his unique style and artistic sensibility. Based on Italian architecture from the 1920’s and 30’s, James’ home is part museum, full of style, design and art that makes him feel inspired. But don’t be mistaken, James is still Bling-Worthy! One literally enters the home through golden gates! Inside, guests take in priceless artworks from famous artists, as well as invaluable paintings and sculptures from around the world. He won’t say, but his collection must be worth millions. As a photographer, James has had countless photoshoots at his home, with his unique style, seamlessly blending into the photos that he takes.
His collection is immense, from ornate golden statues with skulls, to one hanging piece that measures 3 inches by 23 feet long, (it’s so long that it literally can’t be moved.) Oh, there’s also a full taxidermy peacock!
Kitchen features an entire chalk board wall that visitors and friends can create their own “impermanent” art on!
Styled after the canals in Venice, Italy, a Gryphon statue watches over swimmers after they descend a staircase directly into the pool, like the staircases in the canals of Venice.
An ornate, larger than life golden circular sculpture is actually a storage piece that is the center of James’ bling-worthy dining room.
Golden gates are a show-worthy entrance to designer pad.
A one of a kind, custom stone bath-tub with an incredible view!
A walk in closet that might be more beautiful than the designer clothing inside! This walk-in features exquisite, handmade, wooden closets that form a U shape around a beautiful mid-century inspired center island. What better place for someone to be styled before a fashion shoot?
This home also boasts a wine cellar and a media room!
