Modern Art Deco Hollywood Glam

Homeowner: Andrew White

Occupation: Homeowner/Builder

Home Location: San Diego, CA

Andrew was so sick of the boring modern, black, white McMansions springing up everywhere in Southern, California he took his home design into his own hands. Like a modern Gatsby, Andrew was inspired and perhaps obsessed with his version of “modern art deco.” He sought to make his version of a California resort-like mansion that pays homage to the Golden Era of Hollywood, and the bygone era of the grandiose roaring 20’s. And boy did he do it in spades! This property is HUGE and BLINGY: There are 6 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 2 laundry rooms, an elevator, gym, wellness spa, 3 wet bars, game room, theater, art gallery, and guard shack. Oh and so many chandeliers that he has lost count. The pool channels a Versace vibe inspired by the famous home, and is complete with black marble surrounded by vibrant LED lighting. One of the NINE fireplaces is full stone and 22 ft tall that goes through a glass ceiling. Wrapping around this awe-inspiring fireplace is a curved staircase with intricate brass hand rails. Below the stairs is a gorgeous indoor fountain with Medusa heads contributing to the tranquil sound of cascading water. Oh, these floating Medusa heads can be activated by your phone. What?! Every square inch of Andrew’s home is manicured and landscaped with a purpose, it’s no surprise he had previously been featured on HGTV.

  • Andrew has created a high-end designer fashion store within a home. This walk-in closet is inspired by the likes of haute-couture showrooms like Gucci, Chanel and Prada. The 20x20 space boasts custom-made Chanel Logo shaped lighting, led lined display cabinets for shoes, jewelry and clothing as well as its own island!

  • You’ve heard of a living wall, but Andrew took that idea and transformed it to a living ceiling, giving a tropical indoor/outdoor aesthetic. An ornate chandelier is nestled amongst a succulent garden on the ceiling.

  • Amongst the homes many bathrooms, there are several that pass the bling test. There are three “main” rooms in the home that each feature massive bathrooms. One of them even has TWO bathrooms! One is a beautiful black and gold rotunda shower space that is HUGE and features a skylight. The other is a more feminine space that features a round wall made of ALL glass bricks that reach to a crystal chandelier. What’s more blingy than taking a bath in circular room made of glass, marble and crystal?

  • An incredible swimming pool with black marble, flanked by Roman columns and vibrant/unique LED lighting.
