Maximalist to The Max
Homeowner: Lena
Occupation: Blogger
Home Location: Los Angeles (The Valley)
Lena wanted a home that expressed her fun sense of style. She loves to take photos and be creative so a throw-back house with lots of bright colors, bold patterns and funky style was just what she needed. Armed with the creative vision but not necessarily with the execution know-how Lena enlisted the help of famed designer Dani Dazey. Lovingly known as “Dream Home Studios” this space features a retro vibe with a tidal wave splash of color and wow- factor. The home features a glam room, a library, a groovy retro kitchen, a floor to ceiling wall-papered, color- explosion living room, and a vintage 70’s throw back den. Lena uses the home as a place of inspiration and creativity. Despite criticism from guests or loved ones, it’s Lena’s unapologetic flavor of fun!
The 70’s den boasts furniture, wood paneling and a color palette popularized in that fun and funky era. Brown wicker, old wood paneling, orange vintage furniture and painted stripes make this space feel like Rainbow Bright and the Care Bears presented you with “1973.” Oh, the fireplace looks like it’s perfect for the Brady Brunch to gather around.
The living room is the show-stopping space. With pink floral wallpaper on the ceiling AND on the walls, ensures that the entire space is a feast for the eyes. There’s a pink fireplace as well as a fringed chandelier. How bling is that?!
The library boasts bookshelves with books of all different colors arranged to appear as rainbow. It’s an eye- popping space that makes you feel like a kid playing and reading once again.
The kitchen features a green and blue motif with “flower power” recessed lighting murals. It also has all decor green and blue as well as matching, retro appliances.
The bedroom is also called the “tea-room” and features pink fringed lamps, pink mirrors that look like they were lifted from Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland and a crazy patterned wallpaper and vintage colorful furniture. An Art Deco/Victorian styled chandelier with clam shaped glass ties the room together.
