Malibu “Imagica” Muse

Homeowner: Alex/David Hakakian

Occupation: Real Estate Developers/Entrepreneurs

Home Location: Malibu, CA

“Imagica” is the affectionate nickname for this magical, Malibu property owned by the Hakaian family. From a giant pyramid that is said to channel “energy” to an indoor/out door solarium, to a forest of sculpted trees, this otherworldly home is like a real-life science fiction set! But it’s actually someone’s home. Patriarch, Alex Hakakian was originally born in Tehran, Iran and grew up in a very poor family. After years of working hard and going to Israel and London for college, Alex moved to San Francisco California and started his life in tech. After an eventual burnout, he recalibrated and set sail for a more centered, holistic, and spiritual outlook on life and living. Alex is a student of the self-realization fellowship and focuses his life on mind body healing and connecting with loved ones. He’s even dabbled in psychedelics to achieve these results: ) He has a house matches his psychedelic persona!

A giant 60 ft. pyramid divides the east and west wings of the home and built into the structure you will find funky and functional furniture. The pyramid is said to amplify the energy of the people who occupy the space! He and his family began working together to shift the energy of the home by implementing plants and greenery in an eco-friendly and sustainable way. This is most evident in the bling worthy solarium! They wanted to give a cohesive outdoor feeling regardless of if you were in the courtyard surrounded by iron trees with passion fruit vines, or inside the unique solarium built to inspire self-reflection. Oh, there’s also a pink flamingo bathroom with neon. It’s  certainly unique, over the top and not like most bathrooms! Overall the mystical space is one families’ vision of other-worldly bling!

  • The original architect built the home to look like a bird from a bird's eye view.

  • A giant pyramid that “amplifies” energy!

  • It boasts a “PINK” bathroom with pink neon and pink flamingo art!

  • A burning man instillation artist has been working with the family for the past 7 years to customize the home and has contributed immensely to the unique solarium space.

  • The solarium is the most Bling Worthy space that shows off original art, plants that are both artificial and real, as well as an incredibly unique indoor/outdoor space, that is beyond trippy! It has its own forest made of custom tree sculptures!

  • The original designer was inspired by psychedelics, which the Hakakian family has embraced in their own way.

  • While the space is intended for introspective meditation and spiritual reflection, you can also find a full-sized tennis court on the roof of the garage.
