Julie Dahle, Los Angeles, CA
ROLE: Plastic Surgery PICKER
Julie is a Norwegian-born beauty professional based in Los Angeles who has spent nearly 15 years working in the beauty industry. She started as a makeup artist before becoming a licensed esthetician and eventually launching her own mobile spray tan company, Nordic Glow, which is a mobile spray tan company that caters to clients preparing for red carpets, music videos, events, and everyday confidence boosts.
Through her work as both a makeup artist and spray tan specialist, Julie works extremely closely and intimately with clients’ faces and bodies every day. Because her spray tanning clients are often nude during appointments, she says she has firsthand exposure to cosmetic enhancements, surgical scars, proportions, and recovery processes, giving her a strong understanding of what different procedures look like in real life.
She looks for things like body proportions, overly symmetrical features, limited facial movement, filler puffiness, scarring, trending nose shapes, unnatural contours, and signs that something “doesn’t match the original form.”
She also has personal experience with cosmetic procedures herself, including breast augmentation, Botox, and lip filler, which she believes gives her additional insight into recognizing surgical work and enhancements in others. Julie says she’s especially aware of how modern cosmetic surgery trends have evolved and how increasingly subtle procedures can still reveal small tells.
Julie describes herself as highly intuitive with a strong “gut instinct” and says she’s very good at reading people and detecting when someone is exaggerating or being dishonest.
Her strategy in the competition would focus on both observation and clever questioning. Julie says she would ask indirect lifestyle questions, particularly fitness and nutrition-related questions, to determine whether someone’s physique was realistically built naturally over time or likely enhanced surgically.
