Nikki and Lisa are a lovable, charismatic and closer-than-close mother and daughter duo hailing from the Sunshine state. Nikki had always wanted to be a mother, but sadly she had an extremely difficult time conceiving. She suffered through three consecutive miscarriages until she was finally able to get pregnant. Nikki was premature and the doctors were not sure if she would survive, but after several weeks in the NICU, Nikki came home to her mom and the mother daughter journey began… Lisa considers Nikki her “miracle baby,” and the two have been inseparable since.

Today, you can’t find one without the other. Nikki and Lisa live together, they sleep together every night, they go to all of their doctor’s appointments together and they even share panties!  Nikki has a job as a research assistant in a lab that requires her to be on her feet all day. Each night when she gets home after work, Lisa will rub Nikki's feet and "pop her toes.” To end the foot massage, Lisa kisses her daughter's toes "good night," one by one, a tradition that she’s been doing since Nikki was a little girl. Nikki and Lisa sleep in bed together nearly every single night. They admit that they’ve been doing so since she was a little girl, and they don’t think anything of it! Nikki does admit that she didn’t tell any of her friends about it while in high school.

The duo loves to get ready together each day and share a razor and a toothbrush. Yes, the same toothbrush! Nikki and Lisa are very affectionate with one another and love to cuddle, hug, and kiss each other. It's not uncommon for them to keep each other company while the other is using the restroom. There are no boundaries for this mother and daughter! 

Lisa divorced Nikki's father and soon after, he passed away unexpectedly in 2013. The duo was brought even closer together after Lisa was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer in 2018. During her battle with the disease, Nikki was there for her mother every step of the way, sleeping by her mother’s side for months on end, even leaving school to be with her mother. Lisa had to undergo numerous, grueling chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments. Having lost one parent and been faced with the real threat of losing her mother, Nikki's attachment to Lisa was solidified. As a result, Nikki has nightmares about being away from her mom. Both Lisa and Nikki have faced death square in the face, and as a result they’re not taking anyone or anything for granted, especially each other! Today Lisa is cancer free. They operate under the maxim of, “live each day to the fullest!” Although some may think that their relationship is weird and inappropriate, they’re never going to apologize for the way they live their lives! And why should they!?

About a year ago, Nikki met a nice Jewish boy named Ori. They met online and have been close ever since. Ori was born in the United States, but his family is Israeli. Ori and his family spent the last fifteen years living in Israel, but returned approximately two years ago after Ori left the Israeli air force. The family wanted a more American life and settled in sunny Florida. When it comes to Nikki and Ori together, Nikki made sure that mom was included since day one! Lisa will often join Ori and Nikki on their dates, even when they go out for a romantic dinner, Lisa will be the "third wheel". Ori isn't crazy about the fact that he gets little alone time with Nikki. He often has to compete for his girlfriend’s attention, dividing the weeknights into nights he gets to spend with her and nights that Nikki spends with her mom. It’s very bizarre in his opinion.

Nikki is at the age when most young adults are striking out, leaving home and living life on their own, and it’s something that Nikki feels like she is ready to do with Ori. The couple is very much in love and they want to build a life together. That starts with moving in with one another! Ori admits that he thinks that Nikki is the one, and he’s ready to get his life started with her. However, Lisa is skeptical that the young lovers are capable of leaving the nest. She’s also not sure if Ori can really support her daughter the way she deserves. Ori and his family are currently starting their own ice-cream shop called, Lilly’s Ice Cream! It’s an exciting business venture for Ori’s entrepreneurial family and it’s been Ori’s dream and labor of love for the past year. Although Lisa is excited about the venture she’s unsure if Ori is simply a dreamer who won’t really be able to make a living in his new business. To quell mother’s financial concerns, Nikki will work at the ice-cream shop while going to graduate school. Mom never had planned for her daughter to scoop ice-cream for a living, in her opinion Nikki should find someone that could let her focus on her studies and not have to work.

Lisa does admit that her issue isn’t simply about money, she knows that she isn’t ready for her daughter to leave home. However, both Nikki and Lisa do agree that it will be significantly easier to part ways if Lisa has a special someone in her life to spend time with and focus her attention on. Enter, the matchmaking Nikki! Like Cyrano de Bergerac (or Steve Martin in Roxanne) Nikki is constantly writing and interacting with men online pretending to be her mother! They also sound the same on the phone so Nikki has considered speaking with men while pretending to be her mother so she can woo and pre-vet them herself! Although there are lots of single men and Lisa is actively dating, no man is good enough for over-protective Nikki. They’re either too old, too boring, too needy, or too short! Nikki will interrogate men that Lisa brings home, and has even stalked and spied on her mother’s dates! Lisa and Nikki both want someone for her mom, but with Nikki’s meddling it’s going to be tough!

Lisa and Nikki are each other’s family. They love each other unconditionally and consider one another as their home and safe space. However, their lives are at an impasse as they are each looking to expand their sense of family, Nikki with Ori and Lisa in her dating life. Will they be able to allow one another to grow and explore the world, or will they remain in their safe space, but still closer than ever?
