Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Chef “JRob” brings a cajun kick to the Atlanta culinary scene. Growing up, Justin was often left alone to cook for himself while his parents both worked full-time to make ends meet. Justin’s biggest culinary influence was his grandfather who was a big BBQ griller. So cooking BBQ, cooking over an open flame, and just being outside is one of Justin’s passions. Justin was a self-taught chef until he got married and was offered work in his father-in-law’s restaurant “Oyster House.” This was his introduction to a professional kitchen… and Just thrived. Working the line and learning the in’s and out’s of a kitchen helped to establish his culinary cornerstone.
To everyone in the culinary scene Justin is known as “The Rockstar Chef,” a nickname which exemplifies his “on the grind” personality and work ethic. J Rob is currently a private chef and caterer who aims to provide an innovative experience, exemplary service and fresh, vibrant cuisine. He has worked many facets of the restaurant industry-from General Manager, Line Cook, Prep Cook and Executive Chef. Additionally Justin has served as Steve Harvey’s and The Atlanta Falcon’s Private Chef.
Recently, Justin and his wife (who is a sommelier) purchased a 28.7 acre property that they intend to turn into an event space. They hope to host Justin’s experiential culinary pop-events, weddings, parties etc. They are just getting started in realizing their dream. In 2023, Justin received an opportunity to give back to his Alma Mater by becoming an adjunct culinary instructor for Auburn University. Justin will teach students and community members alike cooking techniques, culinary entrepreneurship, receipts and more. Some of his culinary achievements include being nominated for Auburn University’s 20 Under 40 and Curator of the year by Young Executives publication.
