Josh Ackerman - Chief Creative Officer
Josh Ackerman is co-founder and chief creative officer of full-service independent production company Bodega Pictures, where he spearheads creative strategy, original content development and current production, and also leads the company’s creative team. Ackerman co-founded Bodega Pictures with fellow NYU-grad Ben Nurick (company president) in 2008, developing and producing original unscripted content for such clients as TLC, Food, HGTV, Discovery +, A&E, truTV and Paramount.
Among Bodega’s breakout hit series are TLC’s Extreme Sisters and sMothered; A&E’s Hustle & Tow; Food Network’s Girl Meets Farm hosted by Daytime Emmy and James Beard award-nominated chef Molly Yeh; HGTV’s highly rated Rehab Addict Rescue and Tiny Luxury; and flagship series South Beach Tow for truTV. Other shows and specials include Kart Life (truTV), Big & Little (TLC), Big Easy Justice (Paramount), Best. Pool. Ever. (HGTV), On the Rocks and Ultimate Hanukkah Challenge (Food Network), in addition to Cablefax award-winning and Realscreen-nominated lifestyle series Altar’d (Z Living).
Ackerman developed Curl Girls for Logo TV with producing partner Nurick, before the long-time collaborators determined to break out on their own with Bodega Pictures. Alongside Nurick, he also co-produced branded content for such clients as Target, Red Bull, Oribe Hair Care and Biogen, among others, before selling South Beach Tow to truTV.
Having studied film and television at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Ackerman began his career as an actor on a number of television series, feature films and commercials before moving behind the camera full time. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Susan, two children, Oliver and Jayden, and two labradoodles, Leo and Duke, where he enjoys hiking, biking, running and cooking.
