Jen & Will
JEN (Age 30)
WILL (Age 24)
WILMINGTON, DELAWARE
ENGAGED
THE ODD COUPLE
Fiancés Jen and Will are, as they say, “disgustingly” in love. From the elaborate ‘handshake’ Will uses to greet Jen’s breasts when he sees them, to their game of ‘cat and mouse’ during foreplay, to their goal of having sex in all 50 states, Jen and Will proudly can’t be tamed. It goes as far as having sex in the bridal suite at her best friend’s wedding! For Jen, who thought she was asexual before meeting Will, it’s a whole new world of love and lust. The longest they spend apart is when Will is working at his bank job, and these hours are tedious for Jen who is constantly feeling alone and nervous while separated (even though she’s with their two cats, Socks and Marshmallow, who they treat like children.)
Jen and Will admit a big reason for the obsession comes from the fact that they’ve both lost parents in the last year or so, and have realized how little time they may actually have with the people they love – so they must cherish every second! But whether they’re parading their cats around through the park in a stroller, squeezing into their tiny bathtub for a spa night, or fighting over who is going to serve the other at a family dinner table, these two have no shame.
Jen and Will definitely haven’t had a traditional love story. When the two met, Jen was engaged to someone else. Jen and her ex-fiancé shared a house and were planning a wedding even though she had her doubts about the relationship. When she met Will it was love at very first sight and everything changed. Standing at 5’5”, with a dad bod and goofy-smile, Will may not look like a Calvin Klein model to most people, but to Jen, he was the man of her dreams. She was smitten. He complimented her on her Toy Story t-shirt, and they were off to the races.
Because Jen was wrapped up in another relationship, her courtship with Will consisted of coy flirtations and secret meetings, and jumping on any opportunity to see each other even in group settings. Once they both decided that these feelings were really real, Jen began the process of uprooting her whole life for it to work. She called off her wedding which put her $10K in debt, and had to get out of her shared mortgage with her ex while finding a new place to live. Within a few months, Will and Jen had overcome every obstacle together and they were engaged quickly thereafter.
Will and Jen’s families each have their misgivings and concerns about their borderline codependent relationship. The biggest red-flag being the fact that Jen left her fiancé and became engaged to Will so quickly. Will’s mother immediately didn’t trust Jen, and unfortunately they were never able to reconcile their differences before she passed away unexpectedly. Will still feels guilty about never being on the same page with his mother before she passed. Today, Will’s dad and Jen’s mom (who is also widowed) are trying their best to be supportive. Will’s brother’s aren’t sure what to make of Jen, and are unsure how to react to their unusual obsession for each other. The fact that Will is six years younger than Jen doesn’t make things any easier (or more normal.)
Jen and Will’s quirkiness will be on full display later this year as they celebrate their love with a midsize wedding for about 150 guests. Planning the wedding is sure to uproot many emotional conversations as a result of the changes and deaths that have occurred in each family over the last year. And, of course there’s the bachelor and bachelorette parties – which will be held as a combined weekend away because they can’t be without each other for even one night! Once they’re officially married, it’ll be time for Jen and Will to start house hunting and maybe even add to their growing family. It’s to be decided if that means human or feline children!
