Janet
Janet Temidayo, 34
Eight years ago, Janet was going through a hard time. She had just broken up with the man she moved to NYC for and was struggling in her new job in real estate. She got into it purely based on watching Million Dollar Listing and wanting what those agents had. Years later, it just so happened the dream situation occurred, Frederick from Million Dollar Listing added her to his team. That’s when she met Charlë. Both Janet and Charlë are the two African American women on the team. And while they are great friends, they tend to compete for leads and relationships at work. They try not to let it get in the way of their friendship, but they both bitch about each other to their mutual girlfriends, especially Natalie. When Janet introduced Charlë to Natalie, Charlë told Janet she was going to steal her friend. So, the competition runs deeper than just work. Charlë can get annoyed with Janet because Janet tends to get on her case. They are opposites, Charlë is out constantly and is the life of the party. If Janet is with her people, she’s outgoing and fun, but if she doesn’t want to do something, she won’t. Janet also feels like Charlë tends to play Switzerland in a lot of social situations, which drives her nuts. When it comes to real estate, Janet isn’t like most agents, there isn’t a deal she won’t take. From $200,000 apartments in Harlem (her home base) to $10M penthouses in Tribeca, she’ll do any job, any listing. She’s hungry for it. When it comes to love, Janet spent a lot of her 20’s and early 30’s with a negative outlook. Her big breakup jaded her. She tried to date and nothing stuck. That’s until she went to Nigeria for a family friend’s wedding and met her current boyfriend. They’ve been together 10 months and he moved to NYC to be with her! She told him they had to live separately because she got scared they were moving too fast. Plus, the pressure for marriage is on from both their families, who are close friends. When Janet isn’t out with her girls or her boyfriend, she’s trying to meet new clients and working on her podcast. As a woman of color, entering the real estate field, she didn’t have any guidance. With it being such a male dominated industry, she wanted to start a podcast about black women striving for their careers in cutthroat industries. It’s taken her some time to get it done with all her real estate hustle, but she hopes to broadcast it in the next year.
