THE HAFF FAMILY
Michael is a commercial truck driver who has an insatiable passion for anything with a big, loud or fast engine. He started racing four-wheelers that then lead him to meet a man by the name of Tod Weston who invented the “Mini-Monster Truck” and the two became instantaneous kindred spirits. Tod owns a team called, “Kid-KJ” comprised of young children who drive miniature versions of the full size monsters. Sadly, Tod’s son KJ (the team’s namesake) passed away in an automobile accident (not related to monster trucks) but Tod still looks after the other children as if they are his own. Cody is one of the drivers for Kid-KJ and proudly trains and work with his father Michael and “Uncle Tod.”
Michael and Tod work out of Tod’s property where he has several acres developed for the sole purposes of building, training and racing monster trucks. They put the kids in the trucks and teach them how to roll over, how to hit a jump and how to safely operate the massive vehicle. It’s an all-out obsession for for Michael and Cody is not far behind in dad’s footsteps.
Michael and Noreen tried for years to have a child, but they suffered numerous false starts until they give birth to their miracle baby, Cody. Noreen loves her son so very dearly, and wants him to live life to the fullest, but she understandably gets nervous when he’s behind the wheels of such a massive truck. Michael has spent what money he does have on the sport, helping Cody get into the right truck, with the right equipment and all the right gear. He spends his hours when he’s not driving semi-trucks, helping teach his son the in’s and out’s of wrenching his own engine. Michael is the, “ball of energy” that ignites’ the children’s passion…because, truth be told, Michael is a kid at heart. He’ll stop families at racing events or in the grocery stores to try to recruit them to join a monster truck racing team. Michael races RC monster trucks. He get’s hot-headed at events, and loves to hype up the crowd. He’s as passionate as they come!
Michael wants to see Cody fully dedicate himself to the sport. He wants to see Cody spend more time behind the wheel, spend more time in the shop and focus on learning new tricks. Ultimately, Michael wants to see miniature monster trucks go main stream. Everyone knows the big trucks at Monster Jam, but Michael thinks his son, and other kids driving the mini’s are just as talented and show-stopping. They deserve praise and recognition for the amazing things they’re doing behind the wheel.
