A Greek God’s Villa
Homeowner: Stratos
Occupation: Entrepreneur
Home Location: Lake Balboa, CA
Stratos is a big, lovable, fun man who’s clearly descended from Greek Gods! He builds custom cars, owns a speak easy bar in LA, creates his own music and clearly doesn’t care what anyone thinks! Zeus broke the mold when they made him! While Stratos was born in Australia he is 100% Greek and is immensely proud of his heritage. The name "Villa De Leon," accurately describes his home as lions are incorporated throughout the aesthetic. With his mane-like hair and fierce personality, Stratos very much identifies with the king of the jungle. Inspired by ancient Greece and ancient Rome as well as European Villa’s, Stratos set out to make his living-space the ideal place for a God-on-Earth. He’s made a framed television above his cheetah, four poster bed that shows the night sky and aurora borealis. He has a Lion fountain nestled amongst his Greek columns next to his outdoor “Zeus Bar….” Influenced by Alexander the Great, who embraced other cultures and lifestyles without judgement, he uses elements of other cultures throughout his home. There’s a tile Medusa in the kitchen, Egyptian sarcophagus’ in his office, Roman soldier helmets, cheetah and animal print everywhere. Stratos has spared no expense creating his own Mt. Olympus to share with his wife and son. He’s even gotten into fights with contractors to make every detail memorable and over-the-top!
You'll find lions on the iron entry gates as well as a part of the fountain in the courtyard.
The entrance has a Greek triangle roof and there's hand cut ancient tile mosaics on the floor that lead you to an iron glass doorway.
The ceilings throughout are painted like the sky. Stratos has even custom created a mirror above his master bed that doubles as a screen where videos of thunder storms, clouds, shooting stars, or even the northern lights take over the ceiling.
His big screen TV also doubles as a large gold framed mirror over his custom made fire place and all electronic equipment is hidden behind custom panels.
Some modern influences are still utilized such as LED lighting all across the ceiling and cabinets.
His outdoor kitchen/bar is named "Zeus's Bar" and has a hand cut Medusa mosaic from Lebanon on the wall. Outside is also a fireplace with Greek columns and projector for outdoor movies.
The Santorini bedroom transports you to a Mediterranean island and leads into the courtyard.
Inside Stratos's office, are two huge sarcophagus statues that hold all his DVDs for the outdoor movie theater. Spiral stairs lead you upstairs his private home music studio that has a balcony that feels like a Moroccan hookah retreat.
