Meet Fay and Mini-Fay! Daughter Mikaela was born with pseudoachondroplasia, a form of dwarfism. She stands at 4’7” and looks just like her mother, Fay. Friends and family have always referred to Mikaela as "Mini-Fay" and she loves being compared to her mother. The duo loves to dress alike and though their height is different, they joke that they both have the same bodies and "man boobs." Growing up, Mikaela was bullied in school because of her height. Fay would always remind Mikaela that "good things come in small packages" and she was right!
Although this mother and daughter duo live just outside San Diego, mom is originally from Hawaii. She feels close and connected to her roots and the duo very much believe in the Aloha spirit. To help boost Mikaela's confidence as a child, Fay enrolled the two in Polynesian dance classes when Mikaela was five years old. And the duo hasn't stopped dancing since! They are fixtures in the Polynesian dance scene in San Diego. They compete in dance competitions and love to travel to Polynesian countries like French Polynesia, where they have studied Tahitian dance. They plan to travel to other countries together to learn different dances from the Pacific region.
The duo loves to give each other "Filipino kisses" which is a simultaneous kiss and a sniff. Ever since Mikeala was a little girl mom always thought her “mini-me” was so adorable and had the cutest “tush” on the planet. Mom would peel down her daughter’s underwear to give her a kiss on the butt. The problem is, that might have been cute when Mikeala was a kid, but mom is still doing it! Mom will lovingly pull her daughter’s pants down and give her a big kiss on the butt, even in front of friends and family! Mikeala doesn’t mind if it’s in private, but hates that mom will do it in front of boyfriends! Mom has a hard time realizing that her daughter isn’t her baby any more. Fay admits that when Mikeala isn’t home that she’ll go into her daughter’s room, sleep in her bed, kiss her photo and smell her clothing! Mikaela doesn’t mind the attention. After all, it’s her mom that has taught her to be the strong and smart woman she is today!
Mikaela is also trying to talk Fay into getting matching tattoos but Fay is terrified of needles. Mikaela and Fay have a family friend, Sasha Rochelle, who is a well-known transgender model and makeup artist, who is known for her unbelievable transformations with hair and makeup. Mikaela and Fay want to travel to see Sasha in Las Vegas so they can have Sasha "work her magic" and then they can do a photoshoot!
Mikaela's boyfriend of two years, Jarrett, thinks her close relationship with her mom is odd. While finishing her degree in mathematics, Mikaela was living with Jarrett because his house was closer to campus. She recently moved out of Jarrett's house and back in with her mom, where she currently lives. Fay and Mikeala often choose to spend time together, often times leaving Jarret in the lurch. But even when mom and daughter aren’t spending quality time together, Fay is tagging along with her daughter and her friends! It's not uncommon that Fay joins Mikaela and her friends out for an evening of bar hopping. Mikaela's guy friends love to help Fay "make an entrance" when they walk into a bar. The boys will link arms with her and hold her hand as she struts in. Fay gets a kick out of people thinking that she has a "harem" of young men around her.
Jarrett has been "trained" that Mikaela and Fay are a package deal. Whenever Jarrett brings Mikaela a gift or flowers, he needs to bring the same for Fay. Fay will have Jarrett be her "personal Uber driver" and will playfully call him "Garrett" as the signal to him that she needs him to drive her somewhere. Jarrett knows that if he doesn’t make Fay happy, then no one will be happy.
Mikeala is living at home as she prepares to start medical school. She is currently volunteering at an ICU. Her dream is to be an OBGYN. Her relationship with Jarret is evolving and the two plan to move-in together. Mama Fay will be distraught with having her little one leave the nest. What’s more, Fay is nervous that if Mikeala moves in with Jarret that her focus will be on him and not her school work and ultimate dream of becoming a doctor. The future has big changes for this mom and daughter as Mikeala is learning to be an adult and start a life on her own, outside of her mother’s sheltering care.
