Kid: HOLLY CLARK, 15 YEARS OLD

ParentS: STEVE & HEIDI CLARK

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO

Holly is a third generation racer. Her grandfather, Vernon Clark raced the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, autocrosses and car club events. Her father Steve bit his racing teeth on quarter midgets when he was young which is how he in turn introduced his daughter to his love of racing. Her mother was surprised that racing wasn’t a phase for Holly and has had her reservations about the about its safety. Dad on the other hand encourages his daughter in every and any that he can. Both parents come from an average, middle-class background. He works as a manager in a family dirt bike and motorcycle dealership and Heidi works as a physical therapist. They put anything and everything that they can into funding their daughter’s very expensive dream of racing professionally.

Steve is known to be an aggressive dad who continually pushes his daughter in everything that she does. From making honor roll at school, to taking care of her several pets to showing her the ins and outs of their cars, it’s important to Steve to teach his daughter responsibility, high standards and how to plan and achieve her goals. As a girl in a male dominated industry, Holly feels that she has to work twice as hard to prove herself to the men around her. Additionally, because it’s a physically taxing sport Steve makes sure that Holly is in the best shape possible, making sure she goes to the gym and lifts weights several times a week. Steve spends every night in the garage working on Holly’s car. He is the crew chief for all of the local races. Heidi, manages licensing, registrations, merchandise, fan requests and travel.

Steve is vocal at all of her races, micro-managing Holly’s strategies from the sidelines. The bond that father and daughter have forged thus far is extremely close and even though Steve has a hard time admitting it, he loves his daughter unconditionally and would do anything in his power to help her succeed. He didn’t make it as a pro-racer so now he wants to give his daughter a better racing life than he had. He loves to encourage Holly to dream as a big possible.

In 2022, Holly will race her Pro Late Model with Naake-Klauer Motorsports at several SRL races at Irwindale, All-American Speedway, Kern and the Las Vegas Bullring as well as races at the Madera Speedway. She currently races a dirt and asphalt late model car. In 2022 Holly wants to achieve wins in each of her cars and consistently make the podium. The Clark’s anticipate taking part in approximately 25 races next year both in her modified Pro-Late Model as well as her modified dirt race car. In their down time Holly cares for her two “race dogs”, Boo and Biscuit, as well as her rabbit who travel with the family in the motor home from race to race.
