Christopher loves to party and have a good time. He’s a grown adult still partying like a teenager and pursuing a career in music that his family views as a delusional pipe dream. He grew up in Kansas City but after his mom sold the house and moved to Florida he couldn’t afford to live in KC on his own…so of course he followed mom! Although he went to college, the job market when he graduated was terrible, so, according to Christopher, he was forced to take low-paying work. It’s been an uphill battle since then.

After Christopher was smacked with a DUI he found himself without a license or a vehicle, halting any additional income from his already bleak financial situation. He moved to Florida to live with his mom, starting fresh and with dreams of working on a cruise ship that never happened. Ever since he arrived in Florida he’s been floundering. Christopher has no real direction career wise outside of becoming a famous DJ or rapper, so instead he takes on odd jobs. The problem is that he can’t do much without a car. And the DJ work is low-paying and infrequent.

Shanta, Christopher’s mom, says that her son is supposed to pay $250-300 a month toward rent. Instead of paying her, Christopher will take the money and go out and party, frequenting bars and strip clubs. Life at home isn’t much better. Shanta is sick of Christopher making a mess in the bathroom. According to Christopher, his mom is always nagging him about doing the dishes, not cooking, laying around and spending money on alcohol. It’s a bad situation made even worse by the presence of Shanta’s boyfriend.

Pierre is Shanta’s boyfriend. Pierre and Christopher are the exact same age and they clash all the time. They are both alpha males, both with big egos both pursuing a career as hip-hop artists. Naturally, there’s only room for one, “king” in the already crowded house. Although Pierre and Christopher are the same age and have rap in common, they are completely different. Pierre is more mature, has a real job and makes smart life choices. As very stark contrast to Christopher. Pierre and Shanta have tried to help by connecting Christopher to various job opportunities. It doesn’t last. Christopher seems to think that the work is beneath him so he always finds a way to sabotage the job by not showing up, talking back, etc.

Shanta wants Christopher out of the house so she and Pierre can enjoy some privacy. She says they feel like they can’t be themselves or be romantic with her son in the roaming around. Additionally, Shanta’ doesn’t want Christopher to bring women back to the house. This house is loud, and things are at a breaking point. For Shanta and Pierre, the days of living like a teenager are over… this middle-aged man needs to move out.
