Chaz is a smart, charismatic master manipulator living off of his parents who are beyond frustrated by his problematic behavior, selfishness and lack of respect. Chaz has been living at home for approximately for two and a half years. He did have a lucrative job at one point working in software engineering but was let go when he decided to light up a joint during an important zoom call. After a string of bad decisions and a predilection for gambling (and losing) Chaz was forced to move back home. Although he initially assured his parents he would only be there for a few months, several years later he has greatly outstayed his welcome. Chaz has a litany of bad habits and undesirable character traits; from chaotic girlfriends to gambling, to lying, borrowing money and making empty promises, Pamela and Garland are fed up and ready for him to leave.

Having grown up in a house with parents who have been happily married for 36 years, and with a mother who is a teacher and a father who is a musician, the apple certainly fell far from the tree in this case. Chaz was an over-achiever in high school, was popular and involved in clubs and activities. He went to a few different colleges but never graduated. Chaz started a catering company, but after it started losing money after Covid, Chaz found himself in financial hardship. He is currently working as a maintenance technician for apartment buildings.

A dynamic individual, Chaz is used to sweet-talking his way out of situations. Always asking for money or favors, he is astute in manipulating others to get what he wants. Chaz is smart and savvy, and has the gift of gab. He just can’t seem to make good decisions, or well, any choice that isn’t the easy road or one that isn’t self-serving. His dad, Garland, says that Chaz has blown tons of cash gambling. Chaz broke his dad’s computer, has crashed several cars, and is drowning in traffic tickets. Garland co-signed an apartment for him, but Chaz messed up and didn’t pay that rent on time.

Chaz thinks that his parents should be happy he lives there. But, living there is cramping Chaz’s style and he resents his mother asking him to do things around the house. Pamela says that Chaz does not pay rent on a consistent basis. Chaz, on the other hand, claims he always pays $500 a month rent on time each month.

Jade, Chaz’s 25-year-old brother, who also resides at the house, is beyond frustrated. Jade has a job at the airport and is hoping to move out soon. Jade has problems getting his own apartment because Chaz has used and passed brother’s name instead of his own when he was being issued traffic tickets. Therefore, Jade has a bad record because of his brother, making Jade’s life difficult. Chaz has also given the police his father’s name instead of his own for traffic infringements. For Jade, having a brother who is loud, disrespectful, rude, entitled and unreliable causes Jade a lot of stress. Jade admits that he’s even reconsidered having children, because in his opinion, he could do everything right just like his parents did, but still end up with a son like Chaz. Jade’s feelings towards his brother are cold, angry and hurt.

When Chaz comes home the peaceful house erupts into fights and distress. Chaz has a revolving door of volatile, erratic and explosive girlfriends who create drama with his parents. When he brings home women they’re usually loud and argument prone causing unrest and chaos in the otherwise relaxing home. Another reason Chaz needs to leave.

Adding to the already long list of grievances is Chaz’s dog who has become the unwilling responsibility of mom and dad. The dog attacked a neighbor’s dog and guess who now has to deal with the consequences? Not Chaz! Additionally, Chaz recently wrecked the car that his parents bought him and now he’s not speaking with them because they refuse to buy him another car. The level of delusion is shocking for the family and they don’t know how to get through to him. Something absolutely needs to change. Pamela and Garland are ready to do whatever it takes to finally have Chaz removed from the household.
