CHEF CAMERRON DANGERFIELD (31)
Chef & Restaurant Owner
Phoenix, AZ
Hysterical and life-of-the-party “Chef Cam,” aka Camerron Dangerfield, proudly hails from the Southside of Chicago. One of nine children, Cameroon had to learn to navigate multiple personalities, work hard for what he wanted as well as to cook with purpose with only a few ingredients. Coming from an underprivileged and underserved community Cam has always had a stellar work ethic and motivated to do and achieve more. As a child, Cam learned to cook with his mother. Together, they would cook foods from their family’s Haitian, Puerto Rican and Southern roots. This has carried into the Southern fusion cuisine he creates today.
When his mother passed away while in college, Camerron’s life changed. He finished his finance degree but instead of pursuing a traditional career he chose food instead. He worked hard from the ground up and has earned a name for himself in the culinary scene. Currently, Camerron is the owner and partner of Meltt Cafe, LLC. where he takes on private clients as well as co-runs three different restaurants in Atlanta (Cultivate Food & Coffee, BLAQUE Cigar Lounge and Rusconi Pizza & Grill.) Cam has celebrity clients from Tokyo to Hawaii. Additionally, Cam works as a restaurant consultant helping struggling restaurants find their footing. He has also made time to return to his alma mater helping to design culinary courses, overhaul their cafeteria and fine-tune their campus menu. Dangerfield has future plans to launch a full service hospitality firm that will focus on revitalizing small and historic businesses in the food and beverage industry.
Over his well established culinary career, Cam has worked in over 20 restaurants: Cracker Barrel, BJ’s Brewhouse, and Baumhowers. He has also worked at Eurest and Cultivate in Atlanta, GA. In Texas, Cameroon worked at Pappa’s Delta Blues and Kai Fine Dining. In Ohio, he worked at Rusconi. There isn’t one position he hasn’t worked, some of which roles include: Dishwasher, Server, FOH/BOH Manager, Line Cook, Host and Executive Chef. The achievements Camerron is most proud of during his career are Industry’s Georgia Chef of the Year, HBCU Buzz Top HBCU Chef and Atlanta Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce Rising Star.
