THANKSGIVING TURKEY TRASHCAN TRAGEDY
Barika, HOME CHEF
tarzana, ca
Barika was in charge of Thanksgiving dinner for the first time— and the pressure was on. Her in-laws were coming all the way from New Jersey, over twenty guests expected to join, and her Mother-in-law was famous for her delicious Thanksgiving feast. Barika was prepared. Her six year old daughter offered a helping hand in the kitchen and the two were off, until the cat got into the food and spilled milk. Barika kicked the little thief outside and saw her daughter closing the oven door with the turkey inside. The in-laws arrive and everyone falls into conversation until there is a boom. And another. And another. Barika runs to see what’s happening in the kitchen but it’s too late. While she was putting the cat outside, her daughter had stuffed an entire can of cranberry sauce into the turkey. The can had exploded and gotten all over the oven, Barika, and the guests. Barika threw out her shamed turkey in the garbage outside, before walking back in to begin the clean-up. But, either incredible instincts or dumb luck, something told her to stick her head back outside. The trash can was engulfed in flames. Her husband ran out and needed two fire extinguishers to put out the fiery dump. The neighbors house nearly caught on fire, the trash can melted, and the only reminisce of Thanksgiving dinner was the charred trash smell.
