Bari Kroll
Private Investigator
Long Branch, New Jersey
For more than a decade, under Bari Kroll’s leadership, B. Lauren Investigations has specialized in investigations of insurance and business fraud, delicate family and spousal matters, high-level background studies, and other types of investigations whose primary purpose is to find and analyze people, information and/or behaviors. It was during this time that Ms. Kroll developed a reputation for handling very complex cases that remains the hallmark of her craft. Often called upon as a contributing witness in court proceedings, Ms. Kroll’s demeanor and an unfailing grasp of the facts are crucial to her effective testimony.
Today, surveillance is the main area of expertise at BLI, and is practised as an art form. Over the years, Ms. Kroll has crafted a unique method of researching and weaving the context surrounding each investigation into the backdrop on which surveillance is executed. Once this backdrop is formed, BLI investigators are not merely dispatched to “watch someone”. They have an understanding of each subject’s surroundings, interests and activities and are able to become unseen observers, recording events as they unfold.
Ms. Kroll has continued to build her business in New Jersey while also expanding into New York and Pennsylvania, obtaining licenses in those states. While continuing her involvement with each investigation, she also developed and taught specialized Continuing Legal Education classes in areas such as The Ethical Use of Private Investigators in Medical Defense Matters and Proving Cohabitation in a Post-Alimony Act Era.
Although this didn’t happen to her specifically, Bari does have a connection to this topic. Bari's brother-in-law abandoned his wife, children, and family-owned business, leaving a significant impact on Bari’s husband and their family. Displaying a sociopathic and narcissistic personality, he abruptly decided to cut ties with his responsibilities, including his work and personal relationships. He relocated to Florida without warning, leaving behind emotional and logistical chaos. Bari's husband, a loyal and kind person, struggled with the betrayal but ultimately felt relieved by his brother's departure, recognizing the problems his brother had caused. Despite attempts by Bari and her husband to find him, the brother-in-law remained detached, severing connections with his ex-wife and children, apart from rare instances like a family memorial.
To Bari, a previous career is no measure of a good private investigator. A private investigator doesn’t have to be a former detective or police officer with law enforcement experience, an officeholder with “state connections”, or a legal professional who knows their way around the courts. An exceptional private investigator is one that has the drive to unearth information, the adaptability to find different ways to get at the facts, and the creativity to combine methods to achieve the best outcomes for their clients.
