CHEF ARNOLD MYINT (46)

executive chef & owner of restaurant “international market”

NASHVILLE, TN

Arnold Myint was born in Nashville, TN, and reminisces that he spent the majority of his childhood climbing 100 pound rice bags at his parents’ restaurant and traveling to their homeland in Southeast Asia. Hailing from a Thai and Bernese background, and heir to the family restaurant “International Market,” Chef Arnold was always destined to become a chef. Today, Arnold is not only carrying on the family legacy, but continuing to run and maintain their restaurant, a space that has been kept alive and in the family for nearly fifty years.

During his younger years, Arnold toured nationally as a competitive and professional ice skater. While he enjoyed his time on the ice, Arnold’s alternative passion was always food and cooking. When his love for the culinary arts finally won him over, he left ice skating behind and attended the Institute of Culinary Education. From there, Chef Arnold consulted for Jean Georges Vongerichten’s culinary empire and was the Executive Chef/Co-Partner of  three different Nashville restaurants: PM Nashville, Blvd. Bistro & Suzy Wong’s “House of Yum.” When not in the kitchen, Arnold is also a Mixologist. His work continues to be recognized on a national level as reflected in publications such as GQ Magazine, Epicurious, USA Today, and Eater.com. Growing up in the restaurant industry prepared him to take on any role in the kitchen - he’s had experience with everything from dishwashing, hosting, running food, curating menus, bartending, managing, and serving as executive chef. Some of his culinary achievements include being Southern Living’s “Best Restaurant of 2023”, Conde Nast’s “Top 25 Restaurants” and Nashville Scene’s “Best Chef” multiple times.

Alfred also has a drag queen alter ego called “Suzy Wong.” She is a female persona who is often seen out at social events or in the media as a philanthropic domestic diva. Suzy has great taste and can stir up a fierce cocktail!
