Andrew’s BBQ journey is that of redemption and resilience. Experienced in welding and fabricating throughout most of his life Andrew unfortunately lost everything and ended up living homeless for a period of time. Through sheer will and determination Andrew managed to pull himself up out of poverty and start his own metalworking company where he has fabricated ornate furniture, housing fixtures, amazing metal art and of course, incredible cookers. Andrew has developed a philosophy around his cookers. Everything must stand the test of time. He only uses parts that are at least 100 years old. Whether that’s old parts from old machines, factories or even old Oak wood, the idea is that if the material lasted one-hundred years, it can last another one-hundred years. His cookers are unlike anything else out there. All the welds are inside the cooker, so you don’t see any welding from the outside. He even incorporates a cross-arm system that manually elevates the heat surface closer to or farther from the cooking surface. He refuses to sell any cooking utensils with his cookers. Instead he encourages anyone who purchases one of his cookers to make their own. His reasoning? He wants people to feel involved in the creation of their cooker. Andrew is also a hunter, and therefore knows where his food comes from, connecting him from Earth to plate. Much like his cookers, Andrew has a holistic philosophy when it comes to cooking and building: it cooks and tastes better when you are in charge.
