Amber and Charlie serendipitously caught eyes at a college get together and after a couple dates they quickly became an item. The lovebirds not only finished college together but once they graduated they made a big move from Syracuse, New York to Tampa, Florida together. They even adopted a rescue pup together. However, after three and a half years of smooth sailing the pair made the difficult decision to call it quits. They mutually agreed that their relationship had fizzled out. But despite ending their romantic relationship, they vowed to always remain friends and be in one another’s lives. So, much to the surprise of friends and family they continued living together (even sleeping in the same bed) while they were broken up. Amber and Charlie come from divorced parents, so their relationship represents stability, safety and unconditional support. However, their cohabitation came to an end when Amber met Brandon.  

Amber and Brandon are the missing pieces to each other’s puzzle. The duo met at work and shared a flirtatious, sassy and sarcastic office romance. One thing lead to another and a relationship blossomed. Over the past year they’ve grown deeply in love with one another. Amber has even embraced her maternal side, taking on a secondary mother role to Brandon’s son Xander. Brandon was previously married to a woman in Texas, however, that relationship was toxic and Brandon now has full custody of his son and remains civil but distant to his ex-wife. There are of course plenty of challenges for Amber as she navigates what it means to be a “step-girlfriend,” to her boyfriend’s son balancing boundaries and developing her own relationship with a child that doesn’t biologically belong to her.

Amber admits that Brandon and Charlie share a litany of similarities, even having a similar look. They also share a parallel sense of humor. Amber is the alpha in both relationships. Each relationship is sarcastic and silly. It’s very clear from the outside that Amber certainly has a type!

Brandon and Amber are very much in love. So much so in fact that Amber, who once thought she’d never get married, now hopes for a proposal and dreams of having children of her own. Lucky for her, Brandon has marriage on his mind and admits that a proposal isn’t far off. He’s even hinting at having more children. But this relationship doesn’t come without its share of issues. Brandon and Amber certainly butt heads on a number of topics. Amber is headstrong, assertive and controlling. When she doesn’t get her way she gets upset and defensive. This is especially true as it relates to Charlie. Brandon doesn’t understand why Amber goes to Charlie as a confidant as opposed to him. Brandon would prefer that Charlie and Amber not talk, text or visit one another quite as often. Amber’s mom is also a BIG fan of Charlie. They still talk, text and comment back and forth on each other’s Facebook pages.

There was an incident where Charlie confessed his feelings to Amber at the beginning of her relationship with Brandon. Amber then had to share what happened with Brandon who didn’t take it well. Since then Brandon has been suspicious of Charlie and his intentions with Amber. Brandon knows that it wasn’t too long ago that his girlfriend and her ex-boyfriend would have platonic, “sleep overs” where they’d stay up late in pajamas, cuddle, and watch movies together. Also, Brandon isn’t thrilled that he’s now the “dog-dad” of Charlie and Amber’s former dog that they rescued while they were together.

Tension is bubbling under the surface of this happy-go-lucky trio. Brandon is looking towards the future, Charlie is stuck in the past and Amber is teetering on both lines. Each of these men want a piece of Amber but she can’t fully give to one without impacting the relationship with the other. How will Charlie react when Brandon pops the question? And what happens to Amber if Charlie finds a girlfriend of his own? Can Amber remain friends with her first love if she says, “yes” to her new one? Or will they be the next Three’s Company?
