Amanda & Jennifer
amanda (38) and jennifer (37)
kingston, massachusetts
“opposites attract”
Amanda is brunette. Jennifer is blonde. Amanda is care-free and spiritually awakened. Jennifer is responsible and grounded. Amanda is a flighty flight-attendant with a sleeping disorder, motorcycle, and a long-list of failed relationships. Whereas Amanda is a mom and pre-school teacher with a “Live. Laugh. Love,” throw pillow and a stable loving husband. The two sisters couldn’t be more unlike, but with these two, opposites really do attract. Amanda and Jennifer love each-other so much and so unconditionally, that they overlook one another’s differences and instead focus on the only thing that matters: their sisterly bond. They need and want each other in all aspects of one another’s lives in order to feel truly themselves.
Amanda and Jennifer shared a room for most of their lives, so it’s no surprise that Amanda crashes at her sister’s house. In fact, it’s a literal “crash-pad.” Amanda is a flight attendant based out of Boston, so when she’s not up in the air, she’s down on the ground with Jennifer and her family. She has no other home-base. Also living in Jennifer's house is her police-officer husband, Ryan and their two boys, Lucas (9) and Jack (6). Jennifer and Amanda's mother also lives in Jennifer's house in a "mother-in-law" suite. Jennifer is the "head bi&*!h in charge" in her house and Amanda is like "a third child.”
It seems that whenever the sisters are together they regress into little girls. They go to the bathroom together. They whisper, gossip and giggle together. Amanda and will kick Ryan out of Jennifer’s bed so that they can cuddle, do face masks and plan day-long, consequence-free happy hours together. Amanda and Jennifer give each other "Brazilian waxes" because they don't mind seeing each other naked and they like to save money by doing their waxing at home. Sometimes the waxes can take a while because they are chasing each other around trying to pull strips off of each other's nether regions. They live in their own, strange world that’s tough for outsides to understand. Although Ryan likes his sister-in-law, (who he jokingly refers to as his brother-in-law) her misfit tendencies are a bad influence on his good-natured wife. It seems that whenever Amanda’s around, it disrupts their stable family unit. He questions if having Amanda around is really the best thing for their family?
Without her sister’s stability, Amanda is easily drawn to a chaotic lifestyle. She’s constantly in a different city, dating a different man, and exploring dead-end roads for her life. Although she meets rich, sexy and exciting men, they never translate to real and lasting relationships. Jennifer, on the other hand, doesn’t fully embrace the role of “Stepford Wife.” Presenting as a picture-perfect wife is near impossible and Jennifer has a hard time keeping up with the jones… Especially because Ryan’s family is known as the “Kennedy’s of Kingston” who really are the poster-family for sophisticated and civilized. Jennifer and Amanda find solace and safety from the pressures of their lives with one another. More often than not they feel like, “black sheep.” Amanda because she has never fit into a traditional lifestyle and Jennifer, because she doesn’t feel like herself within a traditional lifestyle. Together, they allow each other to be themselves…for better or for worse!
