Amanda and Abdiel weren’t looking for a relationship and they definitely weren’t looking love. Amanda, originally from New Jersey, was on a solo vacation in Puerto Rico, taking time from being a single mom to enjoy herself and take in the views. Simply looking to connect with others, she opened her apps and swiped right on Abdiel… it was a match! The two met up at a bar and were instantly infatuated with each other. Abdiel only spoke minimal English, but their chemistry and passion were undeniable and transcended any language barrier they had. The first day they met they made promises to each other that they’ve never made to anyone else. Promises about their future, the family they’d build, the vacations they’d take. Amanda knew that Abdiel would find it hard to believe her, but she stood by her every word. Since then they’ve travelled together. They’ve moved in together. They’re even engaged… A year later, they have made their way through every bucket list item they dreamed of the night they met. Their future is only growing brighter and even more in love.
From the day, they met they’ve been connected like glue. The sticky kind. Tongues down each other’s throats, licking each other’s teeth, smelling each other’s breath, and of course always leaving their marks with a hickey. Their obsession with knowing each other inside and out knows no bounds. Amanda once entered the bathroom to find her fiancé on the toilet. She interrupted his business, they made love, and then she giddily wiped his behind when he was finished. She wanted to know what it was like. She wasn’t repulsed, instead fascinated and more in love than ever.
This extremely close behavior isn’t uncommon for Amanda and Abdiel; they are known to get the urge at any given moment… they physically can’t help themselves and have to make love wherever they are. They’ve pulled over on a 4-lane highway to have sex on the side of the road, stepped onto a side street of canal in Venice, Italy; they’ve even had to run from a bouncer inside a bar who almost caught them on the verge of intercourse inside the bar. At home, they are just as connected. They can spend hours alone in the bedroom cuddling, smelling each other and of course, being intimate. They can proudly orgasm at the exact same time and call it an “explosion of love.” And there’s no limit to this attraction. Their current record is 12 “explosions of love,” in one day! For them it’s love, but for family, friends and strangers in public their unashamed physical displays of affection are inappropriate and gross. They’ve received PLENTY of disapproving comments, “get a room,” and dirty looks.
Abdiel was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He was in college studying finance and working for his uncle when he met Amanda. He had a strange feeling that day that his life was about to change, and it sure did. He’d always prioritized his big family and his education. He had big dreams and goals for what his life was going to look like in Puerto Rico but once he met Amanda, he took off and left home without telling anyone. He packed two suitcases, they got on a flight and moved in with Amanda at the house she owns in New Jersey. Of course, his family was instantly concerned when Abdiel seemingly just vanished – where did he go? Was he safe? Was he going to come home? He called home to inform them that he had met Amanda, the love of his life, and would now be living with her in New Jersey. To this day, his family is unsure what to make of this rash decision and his extremely close relationship. What was it about this woman that made him leave University and say good bye to his friends and family? Let’s not forget that Abdiel is only 23 years old and that Amanda is 28, and although that’s five years, the two are on very different levels maturity wise, but also in very different stages of life.
His cousin (coincidentally also named Amanda) was especially hurt when Abdiel went AWOL. The two are best friends and grew up together. She’s been his voice of reason growing up. She has been the bridge between Abdiel and his family, trying to reconcile his seemingly rash behavior with the rest of the family who is hurt and doesn’t understand what he’s doing. On more than one occasion cousin Amanda has warned Abdiel that he might be making a mistake: “You’re moving too fast. Are you sure you want to get involved with a woman who has a baby with a different man? Are you ready to take on being a father figure? Are you sure you want to abandon your studies? Are you sure you want to marry this person you’ve only known for one year?” She could go on and on…
On a recent vacation in Italy Abdiel proposed to Amanda and the couple is now engaged! They want a big wedding in Puerto Rico in June or July of 2024. Neither of their families have met each other and they know it’s going to be a culture clash getting her New Jersey family to Puerto Rico to meet Abdiel’s Catholic and Spanish speaking family. Abdiel’s family is naturally suspicious and weary of Amanda and her intentions. And vice-versa, Amanda’s family and friends are unsure about her marrying a man she met while on vacation?
Amanda is an exotic dancer, earning a very comfortable income for herself and her three-year-old daughter, Ari. Abdiel and Ari have become close as well and the trio is their own, cute little family unit. They often take Ari on family-friendly vacations to places like the beach and Disneyworld. Amanda has reported to make anywhere between 1k to 10k a night as an entertainer and has been able to amass a very comfortable nest egg for herself and her family. Amanda has purchased her own home and has brought her brother and her mother to live with her and Abdiel. In fact, Amanda’s mom is Amanda’s nanny and housekeeper. That’s not just a euphemism, it’s a fact. Amanda literally pays her mom to cook, clean, pick up after her and Abdiel and to take care of her daughter Ari. Mom loves spending time with her granddaughter, but admits it’s a strange scenario. To make matters even more tense, Amanda and her mother do NOT get along. They don’t see eye to eye and get into arguments often. Abdiel and mom don’t get along either. She thinks that Abdiel is shady and too quiet, and Abdiel thinks that mom is too meddling and judgmental.
Amanda and Abdiel have to deal with the jealousy that comes up in their relationship. Abdiel does NOT like that Amanda is a dancer and despises the idea that men are looking at her. Abdiel on the other hand has moved his entire life to be with Amanda, and she is the breadwinner of the household which makes Abdiel feel emasculated and as though he isn’t contributing anything. Against Amanda’s wishes, Abdiel has taken a job working retail to make some of his own money. Amanda hates that he is working during the day when she is at home, and he’s at home at night while she is working. Then there’s the “women.” Amanda thinks that Abdiel is being hit on by women ALL the time, and even though it’s not true, it’s drives her absolutely insane. So much so that she shows up to check in on him and will call him all the time to make sure that he’s not talking to any ladies.
Amanda doesn’t want to dance forever and Abdiel doesn’t want that for her either. Their goal and plan is to get married, have a baby and then take some time off. They want to use money that Amanda has saved to start buying and flipping homes. They want to get into home renovation and property investment. That’s a big dream and neither of them have any experience in home flipping. The question is: can Amanda really turn her back on such easy money? Amanda and Abdiel want to live on their own which means that mom and brother need to find somewhere else to live.
Additionally, mom thinks that Abdiel and Amanda are moving too fast. Especially with Amanda’s history… Turns out that Amanda has sorta done this before. Before she met Abdiel, Amanda took a trip with some girlfriends to the Dominican Republic. There she met a young and handsome man named Emmanuel. The two sparked an intense and fast affair. Emmanuel moved to the U.S. They quickly married each other and before they knew it, they Amanda was pregnant with Ari. They were absolutely enamored with each other and would spend every waking moment together. They were just as inseparable as Amanda is with Abdiel. They were absolutely in love…Until they weren’t. Emmanuel would get jealous of Amanda and vice versa. He wouldn’t help with Ari. And as quickly as they got together, their relationship (and their marriage) fizzled out.
Today, Emmanuel has a very little to do with Amanda and Ari. He will come in and out of their lives. Abdiel is aware of Emmanuel and does NOT like the guy. The first time that the two men met Emmanuel hit on Amanda in front of Abdiel which pissed him off and the guys got into a major fight. Amanda and Emmanuel are divorced, but he unfortunately is still partially in the picture when he visits Ari. Amanda and Abdiel do not like Emmanuel, he causes friction and fights, but at the same time they don’t want Ari to be separated or not know her father.
With a wedding coming up, Amanda and Abdiel have plenty to get ready for. But can they really do it without the support of each of their families? In fact, most of Abdiel’s family don’t realize that he is engaged. They know that it’ll be a big deal and a big blow when they find out. Amanda is currently learning Spanish to help to create a bond with his family, even though she doesn’t speak with them. Despite the skepticism Amanda and Abdiel are going to do what makes them happy. They’re even talking about a baby as soon as they get married. They absolutely want to build a family and have children. They just can’t wait to get their lives started.
