Sometimes the best love stories begin in the most unexpected places. In the summer of 2020, Alexis was riding with a friend on the way to Ocean City, Maryland when Jared pulled up beside them on his motorcycle. They caught each other's eye, Alexis convinced her friend to follow him to a Wawa (a local convenience store/gas station for the uninitiated), and before long she was handing him her phone number in the parking lot. They have been together ever since, proving that sometimes one spontaneous decision can change everything.

Now engaged and building a future together, Alexis and Jared are taking a practical approach to buying their first home. They are currently living with Alexis' parents while saving every dollar they can toward their dream beach house. Neither of them has any interest in renting. Alexis works in financial planning and believes that buying a home is one of the smartest long term investments they can make. Even though they are still young, they are determined to get into the housing market now rather than wait. To make it happen, Alexis works full time at a financial planning firm during the day while also picking up nights and weekends as a waitress. Jared works full time as a landscaper. While many of their friends are spending their weekends out having fun, they are sacrificing now so they can build the life they want for the future. Oh, and although they love Alexis’ parents…They are quite ready to have a home of their own!

Their search is centered around the Delaware beaches, where both of them work and where Alexis has spent her entire life. They want to stay close to family while also being just minutes from the boardwalk, restaurants, and the beach. Their wish list includes at least half an acre of land, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a garage, and enough outdoor space for future dogs, family gatherings, and entertaining friends. They are open to cosmetic projects and light renovations, but they want a home they can move into right away and improve over time.

Like every great house hunting couple, they do not agree on everything. Alexis loves open, cleared lots and would happily avoid trees altogether because she cannot stand bugs. Jared, who grew up in the woods of West Virginia, dreams of trees, nature, and plenty of outdoor space to landscape. Their home search is a constant balancing act between beach living and wooded privacy, creating plenty of fun debates as they tour homes together. Alexis naturally focuses on layout, design, and cosmetics, while Jared immediately starts inspecting the mechanical systems, structure, and everything outside.

Adding even more pressure, Alexis and Jared are planning their November 2026 wedding while searching for their first home. Between wedding expenses, two demanding work schedules, and saving every extra dollar they can, life is busier than ever. Finding the right house before they say "I do" would be the perfect way to begin the next chapter of their lives together and finally enjoy the future they have both been working so hard to build.
