Alejandro Najar

CHEF ALEJANDRO NAJAR (29)

EXECUTIVE CHEF OF “BUTCHER CELLAR”

WACO, TX

Alejandro is a big, funny, and positive alternative guy who loves skating, music and spending time with his buddies. But the truth is, this guy has little to no freetime as he’s always in the kitchen. Always. It’s a lifestyle and a passion; and at only 29 years old this already decorated chef is just getting started. Najar was born in Las Vegas in a Mexican American household, but raised with Midwest comfort food classics in Northeast, Ohio.

Alejandro’s mother and grandmother owned River City Bar & Grill in Ohio where baby Najar spent his formative culinary adolescence. From the time he was 10 years old he knew his passion lay in the culinary scene. Thanks Mom and Grandma! Alejandro is currently the Executive Chef of the steak and seafood restaurant, “Butcher Cellar” in Southeast Texas. While he has only been in this position for the past 6 months, his culinary experience spans across 15 years. Chef Alejandro loves to infuse Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Modern American flavors into the cuisine he creates. He is a Michelin and James Beard-trained chef and attended culinary school at Bradford Culinary Arts before deciding to pursue “hands-on experience” in kitchens across Ohio.

Prior to Butcher Cellar, Najar owned a catering company called “Finest Cravings.” Outside of Butcher Cellar, Najar has held positions at: Acme Fresh Market Catering, The Blue Door Cafe & Bakery, two locations of a restaurant called The Mustard Seed as well as Unhitched Brewing Co. in Louisville. Alejandro is no stranger to the kitchen and some of the roles he has had are Sous Chef, Executive Chef, Line Cook, Porter and Dishwasher. Working many facets in both Front and Back-of-the-House has only made him more knowledgeable in what it takes to run a successful restaurant.
