mesa, Arizona
Aaron is a welder/fabricator and artist. He’s particularly known for retro/Mid-Century, “robot sculptures” vintage signage, sculptures and of course, super unique BBQ’s. Inspired by the history and nostalgia of Historic Route 66, Aaron sources historical items from around Arizona. He loves anything with an old, unique look, history or story. In his own words, “With items sourced from such diverse products as old manufacturing machines, aircraft, cars, household fixtures and who knows what, my robots come alive with the history of the donor machine parts.” His unique aesthetic was developed with guidance from his father, who was also a welder and taught him everything he knows. On the grill, he prides himself on paying homage to the ingredient’s history. Mr. Voigt isn’t satisfied with the traditional cuts of BBQ, he wants something with traceable roots, that he can pick, curate and cook with his own hands. He scours farmer’s markets for unusual, locally sourced foods. He’s an artist in every sense, paying respect to the history and process of the ingredients and ways that they are meant to be cooked.
